How to Get to the Tenants Union – Seattle

The Tenants Union is located just south of Seattle’s Columbia City neighborhood on the corner of Rainier Avenue S and S Lucile Street. The entrance is around the back of the building, up the stairs from the parking lot below. The office is above a dentist, Jan Norvold, and across the street from Vel Dyke Realty.

  • On the bus: If you are taking a bus from downtown Seattle you can take bus number 7. Get off the bus at Brandon Street and walk one block south. The office is in a gray building on the corner of S. Lucile Street and Rainier Ave S. It is across the street from Veldyke Properties. Please use the marked crosswalks when crossing the street, as cars drive very quickly on Rainier. For more specific information about bus routes see Metro’s Trip Planner.
  • Driving from South King County: Take highway 167 North all the way into South Seattle. The Tenants Union is in the Hilman City Neighborhood of the Rainier Valley. The office is a gray building a few blocks North of the stoplight at Orcas Street, on the corner of S. Lucile Street and Rainier Ave S. It is across the street from Veldyke Properties. You can park on Lucile Street or in the parking lot on the other side of the building. Please park on the side farthest from the building.
  • Driving from 1-5, either North or South: Take the Columbian Way Exit. Columbian Way will wind you up and over Beacon Hill. It changes names, first to 15th Ave South, then back to Columbia Way, and then to Alaska Avenue South. The trick is to stay on the main drag. If you get off on to a residential street you’ve made a wrong turn. At the bottom of the hill you’ll hit Rainier Ave. Turn right on Rainier. Go about a half mile. The office is a gray building about five blocks after the light at Hudson Street, on the corner of S. Lucile Street and Rainier Ave S. It is across the street from Veldyke Properties. You can park on Lucile Street or in the parking lot on the other side of the building. Please park on the side farthest from the building.
  • If you’re mobility-impaired: The Lucile Street entrance is the most accessible. There are currently two steps. We apologize for the obstruction, but have a ramp that holds up to 500 pounds. If you need services and can’t get up the steps, please call 206-722-6848 × 112 and we’ll make arrangements to accommodate your disability. Also, our bathroom is not currently easily wheelchair accessible due to a small door frame.
